In Dehradun, the day began on a pleasant note with light sunshine, moving clouds, and a comfortable temperature near 26°C. The morning weather feels fresh and suitable for normal outdoor activity. However, weather experts say conditions may change quickly after noon.
By afternoon and evening, the city may witness light rain, thunder, lightning, gusty winds, and isolated hailstorm activity. This can make roads slippery and reduce visibility in some areas. People returning from work or planning evening travel should keep umbrellas or rain protection ready.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a weather alert for Dehradun and nearby districts. Wind speed may touch 40–50 km/h, which may create temporary traffic and road issues in some places. Open areas, hill roads, and tree-covered routes may become risky during storm hours.
The weather becomes even more dramatic in the hill districts of Uttarakhand.
Areas like Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar are likely to receive rainfall during the day, while higher altitude locations may continue to see fresh snowfall. This fresh snow is also affecting important pilgrimage routes near Kedarnath and Badrinath, where roads may become slippery and movement can slow down.
This is what makes Uttarakhand’s climate so unique. In the same region, lower cities like Dehradun may feel cool spring rain, while upper mountain zones can experience winter-like snow conditions.
A major reason behind this change is an active western disturbance, which is pushing moisture into the Himalayan region and creating unstable weather across the hills.
For tourists, this update is especially important. Those planning trips to Mussoorie, Dhanaulti, Chakrata, Kedarnath, or Badrinath should stay prepared for sudden weather shifts. In Uttarakhand, a sunny morning can easily turn into rain or snowfall by evening. Carrying jackets, warm clothes, and rain gear is strongly advised.
Now coming to Birahimpur in Uttar Pradesh,
the weather is taking the opposite direction.

Today, Birahimpur is expected to remain partly sunny with slight haze, and there is very little chance of heavy rainfall. The day will likely stay dry and slightly warm.
But this calm phase may not last long.
On Wednesday (April 8), the area may see spot thunderstorms and light evening showers, which could provide short-term relief from the rising temperature.
After this mid-week change, weather conditions are likely to turn much hotter.
By the weekend and early next week, the temperature in Birahimpur may rise between 40°C and 44°C, creating heatwave-like conditions across the plains. Afternoon hot winds and strong sunshine may make outdoor work difficult for many people.
This contrast between cool rain in Uttarakhand and rising heat in Uttar Pradesh is very common during early April.
When western disturbances stay active in the mountains, hills receive rain and snowfall. Once the system moves away, dry continental winds begin dominating the plains, causing temperatures to rise very quickly.
This weather shift may also affect local farmers.
In Uttarakhand, rain, hail, and strong winds may damage seasonal crops, fruits, and vegetables in districts like Dehradun and Tehri. Meanwhile, in Birahimpur, the coming dry heat may increase water demand for irrigation and summer farming.
For regular people, precautions are simple but important.
People in Dehradun and hill districts should keep umbrellas, warm clothes, and drive slowly on wet roads.
Meanwhile, people in Birahimpur and nearby plains should stay hydrated, avoid direct afternoon sunlight, and wear light cotton clothes to reduce heat stress.
The next 4 to 5 days are likely to remain crucial for North India’s weather trend.

The hills may continue to see changing skies, rainfall, and snowfall, while the plains may slowly move into stronger summer conditions.
Overall, today’s weather perfectly shows North India’s changing seasonal pattern — cool rain and snow in Uttarakhand with rising summer heat in Birahimpur. This strong contrast is what makes April weather across the region both important and unpredictable.
